In 1890 Abraham Brubaker Groff started selling fertilizers and farm equipment to neighbors and friends. He used a barn as a warehouse. The original building was constructed in 1893. A new building was then constructed at the present location in 1902 with additions made in 1928 and 1950. During the early years the business was known as "A.B. Groff," after its founder. The company contracted with New Holland Grassland Machinery in 1903 and with John Deere Tractors in 1915. A.B.C. Groff is the oldest New Holland dealer in the area. When the founder's son, Charles, took over the business, a "C" was added to the company name changing it to A.B.C. Groff as it continues to be known today. A corporation was formed in 1963. Charles Groff continued to operate the business until 1967 when the family sold the business. The business today represents a number of short lines that compliment the major line of equipment of New Holland North America (CNH). Kioti, Kuhn, Hardi, Yanmar, Bush Hog, Bradco, Ramrod, Quicke and Earth & Turf are a few of the smaller lines of equipment and attachments that the company represents. A.B.C. Groff, Inc. has a long history in serving the Agricultural, Construction and Consumer customer with quality equipment. This is still true today as the focus of our business is devoted to a diverse group of customers such as farmers, contractors, excavators, landscapers, nurserymen, masons, rental yards, fencers, paving contractors, quarries, commercial mowers, homeowners, property and turf maintenance specialists. Sales efforts are supported by a well stocked parts department of trained parts professionals as well as fully staffed service department of company trained service technicians. |
